How to use the BoogieBulb® Baby Nasal Aspirator

The BoogieBulb® baby nasal aspirator is easy to use. If you’ve never used a nasal aspirator on your baby before, don’t worry we want to help you! Follow our steps below to get the best results from the BoogieBulb® product.

Step 1

First, place the BoogieBulb® nasal aspirator into your hand with your thumb on the very bottom and your index finger on one side of the long tube with your middle finger on the opposite side.

Step 2

Next, with your thumb, start to press the bottom of the BoogieBulb®nasal aspirator all way in and hold it there. (DO NOT put the BoogieBulb® nasal aspirator into your baby’s nose while doing this. This must be done before placing it in the baby’s nose.)

Step 3

Lay your baby on a flat surface and gently hold their head from moving. Keep the bottom of the aspirator pushed in as you insert the tip of the aspirator slightly into the baby’s nose pointing the tip in the direction of the mucus. Release your thumb from the aspirator to create suction. Once you see any mucus, quickly use a soft cloth to wipe the mucus in a downward motion to pull it out.

Repeat these steps until the nasal passage is clear. If your baby becomes fussy, restless or thrashing head around a lot, do not continue the process. Wait until the baby calms down and try again later. Always proceed with care and caution in order to prevent injuries.

Severely congested baby

Severely congested babies may require usage of saline drops to loosen up the mucus before you use the BoogieBulb® nasal aspirator. Please consult with your child’s physician for the proper use of saline drops and to make sure it is okay. We suggest using our 3 oz. BoogieBulb® nasal aspirator to create the most suction possible.

How to clean your BoogieBulb® baby nasal aspirators

BoogieBulb® offers three styles of nasal aspirators and we will show you how to effectively clean each of them.

The BoogieBulb® Cleanable

This is our innovative breakthrough in medical grade baby nasal aspirators that is completely cleanable and reusable for long term use. To clean your BoogieBulb® Cleanable Baby Nasal Aspirator, simply pull apart the nasal aspirator at the “center rim”. Boil a pot of water and drop the two half pieces into the pot. Take your BoogieBulb® Cleaning Solution and place it in the pot of boiling water until it dissolves. Place the two aspirator halves into the water and let boil for 10 minutes. Remove the nasal aspirator pieces from the pot and rinse off with cool water. Lay pieces flat to air dry and when dry reassemble your BoogieBulb® Cleanable baby nasal aspirator.

The BoogieBulb® Eco-Friendly

This is our disposable nasal aspirator that can be used for a longer duration of time and can be rinsed out with water. Our BoogieBulb® Eco-Friendly is engineered with a “smooth” inside surface which makes this nose bulb easier to rinse out and clean, thus reducing the chances of bacteria build up. To clean the BoogieBulb® Eco-Friendly, fill up a bowl with anti-bacterial soap and warm water and submerge the nasal aspirator under water. Squeeze the nose bulb under water, until it fills up. Take the nasal aspirator out of the water and squeeze the nose bulb until all of the soap and water is out. Repeat these steps if necessary, but make sure your final rinse is just warm water to eliminate any traces of soap in the nasal aspirator. Let the BoogieBulb® Eco Friendly nasal aspirator dry upside down (in a dishwasher rack) for 24 hours or until completely dry. Make sure you squeeze the nasal aspirator before use to ensure the nasal aspirator is dry. We recommend that you replace your BoogieBulb® Eco-Friendly nasal aspirator every so often to reduce risk of bacterial infection.

The BoogieBulb® Classic

This is our single use, disposable nasal aspirator. It is not meant to be washed out with water and we do not encourage doing this. The water has no way to air out and dry which can result in water getting into your baby’s nose with a potential risk of drowning infant. You can simply wipe the top of the aspirator with a wipe between each use and compress the nasal aspirator to excrete the mucus inside the nose bulb. Please do not share between other children to prevent contamination. Replace your BoogieBulb® Classic nasal aspirator often to prevent the risk of a bacterial infection.
